DEATH RUN 2010
Time to start training (or thinking about a good excuse) for this year's Death Run, which will be held on September 26th. We will meet at Rancho Laguna Park in Moraga at 7am for a shuttle to the start. There will be t-shirts for 1st time runners, well deserved food and drinks for all of the survivors, and a short memorial service for the those that .... well, you know. Remember to bring plenty of water for this beautiful and remote run, as there is none on the course.

DIPSEA RECAP
COngratulations and Kudos all around to the participants in the 100th running of the infamous race! All did well and some even better then that. If you haven't yet, take a look at the Dipsea website; the story of the winners is really a treat. Look in on the site of the photographs (Brightroom)and check out all the pictures - our new blue shirts make finding the RRs easy. OUr own Dipsea Demon, Fred Flowers completed his 35th Dipsea (He's also done 28 doubles)! Way to go! A triple round of thank yous to Kim and Jerry Overaa for again their generous hospitality at Stinson! Food and fellowship overflowed - Thanks!!!!!! THe awards, while long, were worthwhile, as history was being made with virtually every one. And lastly thanks to those who just drove over to the beach and helped in the shuttling. A special thanks to Nancy who secured our place at the park for the awards and a beer or two; also to Cathy for the extra hand with that chore. LEt's get out there and run and bike and keep pretending we aren't getting a bit older; besides we have the yoots coming along! Fortza RoadRunners!

QUOTES FROM DIPSEA
I was a few runners in front of one of those guys who was shouting all the way down steep ravine - 'ON THE LEFT!' When he got 2 runners behind me, he says again 'ON THE LEFT!' Runner right behind me says 'but there's POISON OAK on the left!' Laughter ensued...

GOT TRAIL PERMIT
Last week, an East Bay Reg. Park Ranger asked me for my Trail Permit at the Valle Vista Staging Area. Luckily, I had it. That's the 3rd time I've been asked for it in over 15 years. He said that times are tough and they are looking for additional revenue. It's a $ 180.00 fine. You have been forewarned.

BAY TO BREAKERS
In case any of you are planning on running the Bay To Breakers this year along with about 80,000 others, take a look at the info sheet of 1973 – one of the first years I ran it. (See Photo Gallery) We actually stood in line at the Embarcadero YMCA for a Dr. to listen to see if our heart was beating and release us for the race! A tad different today, what?! See ya out there!

BRAZEN RACES!
The Diablo Trails Challenge was great, old fashioned running fun. I hope there will be lots more RR's at the next one - Wildcat Half Marathon/10K/5K on April 24, to register go to http://www.brazenracing.com/wildcat.html Those of us who are more mature runners stand a very good chance of a medal in these! To see some pictures from the Diablo Run - http://picasaweb.google.com/brazenracing/DiabloTrailsChallengeAlbum1# There were four creeks to run though - twice each. That's when it is an advantage to be a Roadrunner!
